The next generation of financial reporting.
With the release of Dynamics GP 2010,
Microsoft will also release the next generation of FRx called “Management Reporter”.
Management Reporter uses the familiar row, column, and reporting tree report design approach that existed in FRx. This familiarity along with a migration tool to transfer all of the existing FRx reports makes the transition to Management Reporter very easy.
The enhancements in Management Reporter will improve your productivity and effectiveness. There are additional formatting options which allow the inclusion of logos or images on your statements and a much requested “undo” feature. Integration with Windows Active Directory eliminates the separate login that was present in FRx.
Management Reporter utilizes the Microsoft .NET platform and is fully 64-bit compliant which provides compatibility with Windows 7 operating system. It utilizes Microsoft SQL Server with report generation now occurring on the server which frees up resources on the workstation.
Honouring Calgary’s Visionary Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders.
One of the qualities of any good leader is the ability to clearly see an opportunity where others do not and to seize it. When others doubt and flounder, great leaders persevere. This year’s list of Business in Calgary’s 2009 Leaders of Tomorrow may all have slightly different leadership styles, but they execute their objectives with integrity and act as role models to aspiring young entrepreneurs. They are not just bosses or managers or business owners, they are true leaders.
Occasionally the need arises to restore Great Plains/ Dynamics GP data. Recently, Callow & Associates has experienced a number of client situations where the data backup was not readily available, unfortunately resulting in lengthy downtime. In one example, the backups were not being monitored and had been failing for several weeks. In another situation, the tape backup system was overwriting older tapes on a weekly rotation. The data required for restoration was from two weeks prior and the tape had been overwritten.
The long arduous task of recreating data can be avoided if a good data backup process is in place.
The concept of backup can be a daunting one. Here are five questions to ask your IT support:
1. Where are the database backup files and shared Dynamics GP folders and are they included in the tape backup job?
2. What is our daily/weekly/monthly/yearly tape backup strategy?
3. Who is monitoring the database maintenance plans?
4. When was our last test restoration of data completed to ensure our backups are working?
5. Should we contact Callow & Associates to discuss our Great Plains/ Dynamics GP backup related questions?
Backing up your business data is like wearing your seat belt. You hope you will never be in a situation requiring the backup, but it is certainly appreciated when you need it.
If you have more questions than answers, please contact us to arrange a complete backup process review.
